About Us Desert
Realty was established in 1973. The
Robertson family purchased the company in 1980. By 1983 C. Terry Robertson, broker, was in the process of
converting the sales agency to a property management company.
Although Desert Realty is licensed as a full service real estate company,
over 85% of its income is derived from property management.
Desert Realty has always specialized in the management of single-family
homes and small apartment complexes. In
fact, Desert Realty was one of the first companies in the state to primarily
manage single-family houses. Today,
the company manages over 1100 homes in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
This is accomplished with 15 employees working full time in property
management. Seven of our employees
have been employed by Desert Realty ten years or longer, with the longest term
being 24 years.
BROKER: C. Terry Robertson has been the broker of Desert Realty since 1980. His experience prior to that time was in real estate investments and sales. He discovered, however, that his real interest was in property management. Mr. Robertson was one of the first brokers in Nevada to specialize in the management of houses. He was one of eight founding members of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) in 1986 which has now grown to 2600 members across 33 states. NARPM is dedicated to the education and exchange of information among managers specializing in the management of homes.
COMPTROLLER: Carrie Field is a 24-year employee. She is responsible for making sure that the owner's rent money and report is mailed within three working days after the tenant pays the rent. She runs a very "tight ship" and sees that all accounts balance each day. BOOKKEEPER: Gina O'Brien has been at Desert Realty for 22 years. Mrs. O'Brien prepares reports and handles accounts receivable and payable. She is Mrs. Field's right hand. PROPERTY MANAGER SUPERVISOR: Beverly Long has been employed by Desert Realty for 24 years. Mrs. Long obtained her real estate license in 1986 and has achieved the Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) designation. Prior to associating with Desert Realty, Mrs. Long held the position of Property Director with a large development and management company. She supervised the management operation of 4,200 units located within three states. PROPERTY MANAGER ASSISTANT: Maria Hale came to us from another local Real Estate company where she was a Property Manager. She is now an Assistant Property Manager at Desert Realty. She has lived in Las Vegas since 1991. Maria was an air force brat & settled in Las Vegas when her parents retired. In her spare time she loves to relax and enjoy her husband & 2 children. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT:
Shirley
Brauer
has
lived in Las Vegas for 20 years and has been with Desert Realty Inc. for 9
years. Moving from California where she grew up, Shirley has many years working
with the public in the health care and casino industries. Her hobbies are sports
and music. But don’t ask her about the 49er football team unless you have
three or four hours to discuss all aspects of the team and its players. RECEPTIONIST / CASHIER: Lori Mancini was born and raised in Las Vegas. She has been in the property management field for 5 years, which will come in handy when dealing with our numerous tenants. She loves animals, especially her dog Bailey. Lori is also a football fan of the Dallas Cowboys. FILE CLERK: Betty Gaut-Green retired after 22 years of Civil Service in California and moved to Las Vegas 6 years ago. She has many years of office work experience. Betty keeps all owner and tenant files in an up to date manner. Her hobbies are tennis, golf and church and she does volunteer work in her community. PROPERTY MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR: Mary Miller has completed 22 years with Desert Realty Inc. Mrs. Miller oversees occupied maintenance calls and assures work is properly completed in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. She also oversees the turn-around process to ensure minimal down time for our vacant properties. She has 24 years experience as an on-site manager of apartment complexes including one with 386 units. In 1982 she also found the time to obtain the Accredited Resident Manager (ARM) designation through the Institute of Real Estate Management. PROPERTY MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR: Cynthia Massaro has been in construction 5 years covering construction defects and inspections for residential and commercial properties. In her free time she enjoys art, photography, car shows and concerts with her family & friends. TURN-AROUND SPECIALISTS: Jim Greely has lived in Las Vegas for 14 years. He has been employed in personnel departments as a human resources supervisor. Since living in Las Vegas he specialized in ADA community placement & service as their community operations supervisor & MIS manager. Jim made a career change & joined Desert Realty in 2009. Nick Kostos came to Las Vegas from Omaha, Nebraska with a background of 18 years in bank management, insurance & his own business in home repair & remodeling. He enjoys playing golf, Nebraska football games & the history channel. He also makes stained glass windows & loves to cook. INSPECTOR: Vicki Testa has been in Las Vegas since 1993. Vicki has assisted 2 realtors and managed a motel. She also managed an apartment complex for four years. She is involved in annual property inspections. LEASING AGENTS: Jerome Kaye owned his own business for many years. After retiring in California, he spent several years in the field of real estate. He retired to Las Vegas but found the need to be active. Mr. Kaye is now happily leasing houses with Desert Realty. Amanda Wright has had her Nevada Real Estate license since 1999. She began selling homes 9 years ago. She now is a leasing agent for Desert Realty. Before becoming a realtor she was an employment recruiter in the Hotel/Casino industry. In her spare time you can find her spending time with her friends & family, snowboarding or at the gym
